Welcome to the Mahanthappa Group homepage.

We are an interdisciplinary research group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Under the direction of Prof. Mahesh K. Mahanthappa, our research focuses on the synthesis, microstructural characterization, physical properties, and applications of block copolymers and related surfactants derived from cheap and environmentally benign sources.

Situated at the interface of chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science, this collaborative research program offers opportunities for students with diverse backgrounds to perform interdisciplinary research.

Research Mission Statement: To develop and to exploit new synthetic methods to produce new molecular structures with precise control over architecture and functional group placement, and to gain a molecular level understanding and control over bulk materials properties of these new soft materials.
